How it all started?

It started with a subscription to a Facebook group, a poke and a message saying "Hi Didem! On next may I'll be in Turkey to meet my friend Emre! I'd like to have a lot of turkish friends!".

It was late January and this eager man was talking about his trip which will take place at the end of April. There was 12 weeks to go and I very much liked this carrot colored Italian man and his passion to travel.

Faith is funny. I believe in the angels playing tricks on people whom they choose to be together.

I started sending him information on where to go and what to do. The conversations are friendly but respectful and short till we start scoring very high on the compatibility scores on a series of quizzes. We were making fun after each quiz we take and discuss them to understand why we are always scoring more than 80% and everything changed between two of us when we scored 99% match on a quiz. The most important one: Priorities in Life.
That result told us to carefully look each other and we started to talk, this time deeply and personally. Within a very short time our mails get longer and longer (300 pages per week) :)

The more we learn about each other the more we trusted each other and also amazed how we feel and think alike. We both like to examine every angle in our own lives and we were boringly rational on every aspect :)) We were so desperate to see each other to examine what is going on between us and also we were so scared that one of us would not like the other. We were scared because we didn't want to loose our friendship.

In this time I also met with Emre, the man who invited and convinced Massimiliano to come to Turkey. I basically owe him one of the most important and big miracles in my life which brought pure happinesses, trust and love.

And the little angels played one more trick on us and ruin Emre's agreement with his friend who will host them. And out of the blue, my mum said they can stay with us. I was shocked and surprised but more, flying without wings.

The first time I saw him I was on the balcony waiting them. And when our eyes met: we knew. At least, I can say I knew :)

When the time of his return came we had a loooong talk. All this time (and still) we keep the promise that we gave to each other: no matter what happens, we will stay honest and rational but keeping the trust of the sincere feelings and respecting each other as a whole, whether we like the outcome or not. We only saw each other for 5 days, we knew that we are falling in love but we also knew that it is very hard to set up a relationship with 1000s of kilometres distance. After many talks and looong silence minutes we knew what we feel: we weren't wanting to live without each other, we refused to give up. And although we didnot had Skype, MSN or any kind of visualized conversation opportunities, we succeeded to maintain what we feel.

Like in the old times: mails, loads and loads of mails. Millions of words, thousands of mails exchanged between us during this time. I think we achived a huge success by forming a perfect verbal communication between us on this much of a physical distance. That is I am very sure and witnessed many times that most couples cannot achieve. We are lucky and blessed. I know and am very thankful for.

We decide to change my ideas about Italy and spend summer and a bayram together. On May when he returned we immediately started to organize my trips to Italy (on August and late September) to see him, his house, his family and getting to know him by living in his life. I will write my "visa" adventures on another post. :)

This was the longer version of my answer to "how it started?"...

Why a blog??

Because during all this process we have passed many stages, we had many adventures and we had to face a lot of un-expected things which nobody had warned us about. Some were funny and some were more than upsetting.

Thinking of the past I realize we had achieved a lot of things despite all the physical distance between us and bureaucratic differences between our countries.

Therefore I decided to have a blog to note down our adventure of marriage for fun and for help and to remember these days in the future and how we achieved.
